The Decider

The Blaze faced perhaps their toughest match of the season last week in the USCL, squeaking out a 2.5-1.5 win versus the San Francisco Mechanics. As the top three boards all drew, this battle between Sam and Uyanga was the deciding one of the match. After a double-edged middlegame which saw the evaluation change multiple times, Sam eventually secured the upper hand, winning a piece and securing another match victory for the Blaze. Well Matched

“Before this game I felt really desperate against Vinay,” explains GM Yury Shulman, about his drawn game this past week against GM Vinay Bhat, “since he beat me once and we drew all the remaining games we played.
